Dinosaurs – Toddler Room

Our toddler children had been spending a lot of time in the small world area and taking a keen interest in the dinosaurs.  The toddler staff decided to follow on from the children’s interest and provide the children with a wide range of activities for that week around dinosaurs.

These activities included lots of sensory play and exploration.  We created a dinosaur tuff tray, made our own fossils using salt dough (the children helped to make the salt dough and mixed the ingredients).  We went down to the Forest School on a dinosaur hunt.  The children also learnt more about dinosaurs through a range of books and in using our interactive board.  The children also enjoyed joining in with dinosaur dancing on the interactive board which then led on to a new topic, volcanoes. The children then created their own volcano using a wide range of materials.

Many of the dinosaur activities kept the engagement of the children, giving them wide opportunity to play and explore, initiating their own activities and seeking their own challenges.
